Will it answer things I don’t want it to?
By default we have myBrain set up so it will only answer questions based on the content you upload, it will not answer any questions where the answer is not contained within the content.
This is for 2 reasons:
- If it had ‘wider’ ChatGPT knowledge then there would be no way to verify the accuracy of the responses
- If it did have this ability then users of your myBrain would essentially just have a free way to access ChatGPT through your myBrain!
Can I change the prompt and write a custom prompt?
You can change the default prompt for your myBrain from the “Customize/Settings” page. If there is a default setting you would like to see there we are missing, let us know!
You can also change the System Prompt (role and behaviour of the myBrain) by going to “Customize/Settings”.
You can use this custom prompt to make your AI answer in the first person, pretend it works for your company, be more jokey, reply with emojis or whatever you want!
Will it output page numbers in the references and sources?
myBrain is unable to output page numbers, this is in part because we do not store any of the documents you upload to our servers.
How do I embed, install or add my myBrain to my website?
There are a number of ways you can do this.
You can copy our short snippet of code and paste that into your website (you can find this, along with more detailed instructions on your myBrain page under “Embed/Integrate”), this will allow you to embed within a page or add as a floating ‘chat widget’ at the corner of your site. You do not need any coding knowledge to do this, just access to your websites “head” or custom code”.
You can access myBrain via API, for more details on this see our API developer docs: www.mybrain.zone/api-docs
Can I remove your branding?
Sure! In fact, we encourage it! Create your myBrain then access it via API on your site or app and nobody will know we are behind the scenes! Alternatively you can embed a myBrain and remove the branding from the “Customize/Settings” view.
Do I have to upload one link at a time?
You can upload multiple links via our bulk upload functionality (using this template: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1QjnsKhwQSsGohnUy8S_sRAdYP11Hr4SSEGedosQCsBc/edit) at once to save you a lot of clicking, or you can upload via API using our content upload API.
If all the pages are from the same site you can use our Add Entire Site feature.
Do you answer based on multiple pages or pieces of content?
Yes, when you ask a question the most relevant text is taken from across all your content at once to find the pieces that can be used to answer your question. This could mean that it answers based on one document, multiple places within one document or across 3 or more separate documents.
Can I get a free trial of a paid plan?
Unfortunately not because there are costs involved with storing the content you upload. We do however have a generous free plan that allows you to test out most of myBrain’s features out and we also offer a 7-day money-back guarantee on all paid plans if you are not satisfied with your myBrain.
What is included in myBrain analytics?
Our analytics feature allows you to see:
- What people have been asking your myBrain and the answers it has given them
- How many questions your myBrain has answered
- How many views your myBrain has received
- How many questions it couldn’t answer (”I don’t know” responses)
- Details of the questions it could not answer
How big can my content be?
PDF, docx and txt files can be up to 25Mb and as many pages or characters as that is. CSV files must be under 2,000 rows at a time.
Can I change the ‘temperature’ of the model?
You can’t do this directly in the application but please get in touch if you are on a paid plan and if you would like to do this as we may be able to help on a case-by-case basis. Our temperatures are set to 0 to ensure you get a consistent response each time you use your myBrain. Increasing temperature increases the variability of your responses.
How much content can I add to a single myBrain?
We have a limit of 500 pieces of content per myBrain in the UI at the moment however if you need to increase that we are able to on a case-by-case basis and have had myBrain successfully function with 5,000 pieces of content.
Can I add an SQL database?
Currently no sorry, we are looking at ways to support this though in the future.
What happens if myBrain can’t answer a question?
If your myBrain is unable to answer a question then it will give an “I don’t know” response. This response can be customised as you wish, we also record all of these responses so you can view them in your analytics and add content relevant to preventing the question from not being answered again in the future.
My responses feel slow, why is that?
Response times can vary based on OpenAI’s API response times and also by the size of the answer being returned. The longer and more detailed the answer being given the longer it will take to produce. In addition to this if our initial model is unable to answer a question we will pass it onto the more powerful (but slower) GPT-4 model, so this can sometimes slow things down.
Can it do maths?
As a rule of thumb, if it can be done on chatGPT it can likely be done with myBrain, if it can’t then it can’t either.
What is the site crawl and automatic updates?
Site crawl is a feature that allows you to add an entire website at once just by adding a single page. You upload one page and we have a bot “crawl” through your website to find all the pages and add them to your myBrain.
The automatic updates (available monthly on Hobby plans and weekly on Pro and Beast plans) will refresh the content on all of the webpages you have uploaded to your myBrain.
However it won’t crawl for new pages automatically, if you want to look for new pages you must re-crawl the site.
If you have updated a page and can’t wait you can also click the refresh button on that piece of content to instantly update.
How can I use the the Wordpress plugin?
Our Wordpress plugin is going through the final stages of approval right now, when it’s live you’ll be able to access it on your myBrain’s “Embed/Integrate” page.
What format does the data have to be in?
myBrain can take data in the form of the following files: .txt, .docx (Word), .csv, PDF or from a URL. Unfortunately we are unable to read .doc files, these will have to be re-saved as .docx files if you want to upload them. If it isn’t one of these files then we will be unable to process it.
In all cases the data should be ‘readable’ i.e. if you could highlight it and copy and paste it, myBrain can read it.
Generally speaking, the best formats to use would be txt, csv or doc, followed by URL and PDF, so where possible use the former formats.
What types of links won’t work?
Right now we are unable to use password-protected content, all content must be publicly accessible if it is a link. We are looking at ways to access this kind of content in the future.
What format does a CSV have to be in?
If you add data via csv, you must make sure it is in this templated format: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1n_YmZFJnu75WJi8lifp95hfQJ7fKODezsFzYsGY0qnU/edit
What data can it take from websites?
myBrain will extract any text from the website URL you share, it cannot identify text within images.
How do I know my content was uploaded?
Easy! Ask a question about it!
Will it do OCR?
OCR (Optical Character Recognition, or ‘reading documents that are not machine-readable like scan) is not currently possible with myBrain, however, it is on our roadmap.
Can I upload audio, mp3, video or mp4 files?
Unfortunately not currently, this is a feature we are exploring in the future though.
Does the chat have human handover to a live agent if the AI can’t answer?
Currently you cannot handover directly to an agent in myBrain. You could however customise your “I don’t know” message with details of how to get in touch with your team (or include a link) if the AI is unable to answer.
Can it recommend products?
If you upload product listings, set up a good system prompt and use our chat mode, it will likely do a pretty good job of recommending products to users.
Can I upload scanned documents?
Currently, no.
If you are unsure if your content could be used by myBrain a simple way to check is to try and highlight the content with your cursor and try and paste it somewhere else. If you are unable to, then myBrain probably won’t be able to either.
Do you have multiple user access?
If users are asking questions of an myBrain they do not need access to a myBrain account, they will only need access if they are adding content.
If you require multiple users to add content, the best approach is to set up an account with a shared email inbox so all users have access to the magic login link and can then add content to the myBrain.
We are also looking into adding multi-user access and SSO sign on in the future.
Do you have any reviews that I can read first?
Sure, check out our testimonial wall: https://senja.io/p/mybrain/iPlqO2
What about tokens and token limits, what are yours?
Luckily you don’t need to worry about all that, leave that to us. The only limits you need to know are your question and content limits.
Can I limit access within an organization depending on role or department?
The best way to do this is to create separate myBrains per role or department and only then share (or give access to) the relevant myBrains with those people.
How many pieces of content is a website?
You can upload a single webpage and that will count as one piece of content, only the text visible on that page will be included in your myBrain.
Or you can upload an entire site, each page within the site will count as a single piece of content.
How long are answers?
The length of answers varies massively depending on:
- The mode you have the myBrain set up in (chat or explain)
- The settings you have for that myBrain
- The content you have uploaded
- Your custom prompts
- The complexity of your question
In short - it depends!
Does it have internet access?
No, if it did then we wouldn’t be able to ensure that your answers were accurate and not hallucinating!
Do you have an integration with Zendesk?
We do not have a native integration with Zendesk, however do have users who have successfully integrated there.
Is there a good way to format transcripts to get good answers?
If you upload as a raw transcript you should still see good results, however if you have the time, these things would all improve your results (I would recommend using ChatGPT for this):
- Remove timestamps
- Clearly identify who is the host and who is the guest when they are speaking
- Remove anything that isn't about the main/core topic e.g. small talk or ads
- If jargon is used try and ensure it is consistent
- Remove any filler words "umms, uhs" etc
- If you can break it up every 1,000 characters or so with subheadings or summaries of what is being talked about that would help too
Do you have any tips of how I should structure content to get the best results?
Uploading your content ‘as-is’ with no amendments will result in very, very good results for 95%+ of use cases, these are just a few things you can do if you have control over the content to squeeze out those last few points.
Think of it how you might think about content optimised for SEO - when a question is asked myBrain then looks for the chunk of text with the most ‘semantically similar’ content you uploaded, so the more closely the language relates to the question the better the results will be.
- Clear and concise language: Write the content using clear, concise, and straightforward factual language. Avoid jargon, complex sentences, or ambiguous terms.
- Structure and organisation: Organise the content in a logical and structured manner, with headings and subheadings that accurately describe the sections. Use bullet points and numbered lists to present information clearly.
- Include relevant keywords: Make sure to include relevant keywords and phrases that users might search for when seeking answers to their questions.
- Provide detailed explanations: When explaining concepts, features, or procedures, provide detailed, step-by-step instructions.
- Use tables and charts wisely: If the content includes tables or charts, ensure that they are clear and well-structured.
- Use descriptive captions for images: When using images, provide descriptive captions that explain the content and context of the image.
- Proofread and revise: Before uploading, proofread and revise the content to eliminate any errors or inconsistencies.
- Provide examples and use cases: Include real-life examples and use cases that demonstrate the product's features and functionalities.
- Update content regularly: Keep the content up-to-date by revising it whenever there are changes to the product, new features, or updated best practices.
- Locate features, and dimensions close keywords:
If there are particular dimensions or characteristics you want to relate to a piece of content (e.g. for comparison purposes) you should include them close ‘physically’ to the keyword name
- Unhidden content
Any content that is ‘hidden’ behind collapsible/expandable sections will be unable to read.
Can I get it to write content, articles or stories?
myBrain isn’t set up to do these things right now, however we are exploring features that would potentially make this possible.
Is there a best way to upload FAQ content?
If you have the time, we would recommend uploading FAQ content as CSV using our template: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1n_YmZFJnu75WJi8lifp95hfQJ7fKODezsFzYsGY0qnU/edit, with each cell in the content column representing one question and answer pairing.
Can I use my own API key?
If you want complete control over your questions and embeddings then you can use your own API key, however there would be no reduction in cost for this. Some users (namely on Enterprise plans) do this to maintain more control over their data.
Can I upload epub, Kindle, or Apple Book files?
Unfortunately you cannot at the moment. The only files you can upload are PDF, docx, CSV, txt or websites.
I am getting an error when I upload a CSV?
Firstly, check you have your CSV set out exactly as we have in our CSV upload template for files: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1n_YmZFJnu75WJi8lifp95hfQJ7fKODezsFzYsGY0qnU/edit or for bulk upload of links: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1QjnsKhwQSsGohnUy8S_sRAdYP11Hr4SSEGedosQCsBc/edit including the same field titles at the top and only those columns included. Also ensure your CSV doesn’t break any of the rules set out in the first tab of those templates. If this doesn’t resolve your issue, send your CSV to team@mybrain.zone and we’ll help you get it sorted.
Does it have a “memory”, does it remember a conversation?
Yes, myBrain has a conversational memory, but only for the current conversation, it will not ‘remember’ conversations across different sessions and across users.
Can I connect to WhatsApp?
We do not have a native WhatsApp integration but have spoken to users who have achieved this. You will need a WhatsApp business account to do this.
How do I get it to respond like a person or character?
You can achieve some quite cool characters and personalities by going to Customize/Settings and editing your custom prompt, do not try adding a character or prompt to the content you upload, this will have no effect on the personality of the myBrain.
How can I manage my card and billing?
Go to your dashboard and select “Manage payments”.
Will it read images, diagrams or pictures?
No, current technology does not allow us to do any of this. Only text is taken from the content you upload. In the future though, who knows!
What happens if I go over or exceed my monthly question quota, limit or allowance?
As you get close to your question limit you’ll get an email from us telling you so.
When your account hits the overall question limit (as question limits are at an account, not myBrain level) then a message will be displayed showing you are out of questions.
At this point you can either wait until the next month’s cycle for your quota to refresh or you can upgrade to the next tier.
If you are not in a position to upgrade yet, get in touch with us at team@mybrain.zone as we do offer question “add-on” packages at $10 per 1,000 questions.
Can I upload emails?
You can, as long as your emails are in PDF format (or one of our accepted formats). We do not have any direct integrations with email providers such as Gmail or Outlook and do not accept native email formats.
How do I cancel my subscription?
To cancel, go to your Dashboard and select “Manage payments” from here you can cancel your subscription and we will end it within 24 hours and before the next billing cycle.
What format is the embed code in?
The embed code for both the embed in page or embed as a chat widget can be found from the “Embed/Integrate” section of your myBrain.
Is there a way I can choose what pages are added on site crawl?
The best way to do this is to use our bulk upload CSV, you can choose precisely the pages you want to add.
Alternatively when crawling you can specify to exclude certain sites or subdirectories or you could very specifically crawl only certain subdirectories, so there are a number of ways to more quickly add only the pages you want.
How do I become an affiliate or join your referral program?
You can join our referral program and become an affiliate here: https://affiliates.reflio.com/invite/mybrain
We pay affiliates 25% of the first 12 months of subscriptions for any user signed up under their code. For full terms click the link. We also offer 10% off for the person being referred, so it’s win, win!
What is “meta data” and why do I need references?
Meta data and references are the data that is linked to the content you upload that isn’t included in the question-answering process but is included in the display of the reference when it comes back. Once the content is uploaded, you can’t edit this. Note that the meta data is not included within the AI’s knowledge itself, so you can’t search by file name for example.
Will it work offline?
No, unfortunately not, we need to be able to send questions to OpenAI in order for your myBrain to function.
Can it do “prompt chaining”?
Not right now, maybe in the future though, watch this space…
How much do unlimited messages cost?
To get Unlimited messages you would have to be on our Enterprise plan.
Can I integrate or connect this with or upload content directly from Google Drive, Google Documents, Confluence, Notion, OneNote, Jira or Sharepoint?
We do not have any direct integrations with these platforms currently. The best workaround is to export your content as a txt file or PDF and upload to your myBrain. We are however working on integrations that will prevent you from having to do this in the very near future.
Can I transfer data between myBrain accounts?
Unfortunately not, luckily it is very quick to create a new myBrain and add data! If this is an issue for you let us know at team@mybrain.zone and we will see what we can do to help.
Can I upload code?
You could, as long as it is in our accepted format, however unless it is small snippets of code, your results are unlikely to be very good.
How do I reset my login password?
To reset your login password go to https://mybrain.zone/login_password (you can find this at the bottom of our landing page) and use the “Send me a new password” option.
Can I and how do I delete a myBrain?
Yes you can delete an myBrain once created.
To delete an myBrain open your myBrain and go to Customize/Settings, scroll to the bottom of the page where you will see a “Delete my myBrain” button.
If you haven’t yet created your myBrain you will be unable to delete until you have created, you can rename and edit content after you have created it and your content limits will not be affected.
How many webpages are on my site?
As simple a question as that sounds, it is a very hard problem to work out unless you have a good sitemap! The way our Add an entire site (crawl) feature works is that it keeps looking for pages that are linked together until it can find no more pages. It will look for 500 at a time until it can find no more. We can’t guarantee however that we will be able to add every page. The only way to ensure this is if you tell us all of your webpages and then upload using our bulk upload CSV, which you can find here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1QjnsKhwQSsGohnUy8S_sRAdYP11Hr4SSEGedosQCsBc/edit (and also in the Add/Edit Content screen of your myBrain).
How can I pay?
We accept most major payment types, if you feel we are missing one or are having issues paying let us know by emailing us team@mybrain.zone
What type of support do you offer?
For all support plans, take a look at the pricing section of our homepage: www.mybrain.zone
On all plans you can email us at team@mybrain.zone and all paid signups are invited to a call to help them get set up and make the most of their myBrains.
Can it search Microsoft Teams or Slack histories or conversations?
No, unless you were to export the data from these tools and upload as content. We do however have a Slack bot and Teams app you can use. Head over to “Embed/Integrate” on your myBrain to learn how to get them set up.
Can I add links to YouTube videos?
While it will allow you to add links to YouTube videos, it will only take the visible text from the page, it won’t transcribe the content so may be of little use. You could however copy the transcript to a text file and upload that.
How do I train it and get better answers?
The best way to improve answer quality and ‘train’ your myBrain is to provide with more relevant content that answers your questions, the better the content, the better the answers. You can download an analytics report of all questions not answered the analytics section and use this as a base to work out the content you are missing (it’s how we made this myBrain).
Why isn’t my chat widget or bubble showing any messages?
This could be because you have locked or restricted your myBrain to a specific domain (maybe there is a typo in the domain). If you go to Customize/Settings in your myBrain and scroll to Restricted Domain you should see which domain it is restricted to and whether it is correct. If this doesn’t appear to be an issue email us at team@mybrain.zone and we’ll help you out.
Can you use it in other languages?
Yes, content can be uploaded in 95 different languages. If you ask a question in another language it will answer in the same language you asked the question in.
